ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021-2022
Object. The Department of Computer and Information Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of West Attica from the academic year 2021-2022 organizes and operates a Postgraduate Studies Programme (M.Sc.) in “New Generation Communication Networks and Distributed Application Environments” (Government Gazette 2306/v.v./1-6-2021), which focuses on new generation communication networks, distributed application environments and the design and development of advanced applications of these technologies. The postgraduate degree awarded is the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (M.Sc.) in “New Generation Communication Networks and Distributed Application Environments”. Through this notice, interested parties are invited to apply for the MSc . The duration of the Master’s Degree is defined as a minimum of three (3) semesters of study. The first two semesters involve the attendance of a total of ten (10) courses and the third semester involves the preparation of the Master’s Thesis. The tuition fees amount to 1.600€ and are payable at the beginning of the courses as follows: 1st semester 700€, 2nd semester 500€, 3rd semester 400€. Based on the provisions of article 35 of Law 4485/2017, up to 30% of students are exempted from tuition fees based on financial criteria. In addition to this percentage, 5% of all students will be exempted from the tuition fees of the 2nd and 3rd semester based on their performance in the 1st semester and provided that they offer work in academic services of the Department. Conducting courses. Courses are held at the premises of the Department of Computer and Information Engineering in the evening. The educational process throughout the academic semesters is supported by electronic forms of asynchronous and synchronous learning through the use of a platform. Candidates. Graduates or graduates of Computer Science and Computer Science Departments of Universities and Technical Universities, as well as graduates or graduates of other related Departments of technological and positive direction of Technical Universities and Universities of the domestic territory or similar recognized institutions abroad are admitted to the MSc. Candidates must have at least a good knowledge of English. The maximum number of students admitted to the MSc is set at sixty (40) per year. The number of scholarship holders and members of the categories of VGP, HPE and HTEP are admitted as supernumerary scholarship holders according to par. 8 of article 34 of Law 4485/2017. Selection procedure. The selection of postgraduate students is made by a Committee established by the Department Assembly and confirmed by the Assembly. The selection is made by taking into account the following criteria: the overall degree grade, the grades in the undergraduate courses relevant to the courses of the MSc and in the thesis, any research activity and professional experience of the candidate and the personal interview. Candidates will be informed of the date of the interview after the deadline for applications. The interview may be conducted by videoconference.
Supporting documents – Submission of Applications. Interested candidates are invited to submit their application file between 17 June and 10 September 2021. The dossier must contain: i. An online application. The application is submitted electronically on the website of the MSc, (http://msc-ngnda.ice.uniwa.gr/) printed by the candidate and submitted in hard copy along with the submitted documents. ii. (If the degrees have been awarded by foreign universities, they must have IOATAP recognition of equivalence). iii. Curriculum vitae. iv. At least one (1) letter of recommendation to be submitted in an envelope sealed by the author. Alternatively, letters of recommendation may be sent by the authors by email to msc-ngnda@uniwa.gr v. Proof of at least a good knowledge of English. vi. A summary of the thesis/dissertation (if available). vii. A brief statement of the applicant’s scientific and professional interests and objectives and a statement of his/her interest in the specific MSc (one page maximum).
