Postgraduate Programme in “New Generation Communication Networks and Distributed Application Environments”
NOTICE FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025
Object. The Department of Computer and Information Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of West Attica from the academic year 2021-2022 organizes and operates a Postgraduate Studies Programme (MSc) in “Next Generation Communication Networks and Distributed Application Environments”, focusing on new generation communication networks, distributed application environments and the design and development of advanced applications of these technologies. The postgraduate degree awarded is the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (M.Sc.) in “Next Generation Communication Networks and Distributed Application Environments”.
Through this notice, interested students are invited to submit applications for the following courses.
Duration – Fees. The minimum duration for the award of the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies is three (3) semesters. The first two semesters involve the attendance of a total of eight (8) courses and the third semester involves the preparation of the Master’s Thesis.
The tuition fees amount to 1.600€ and are paid at the beginning of the course as follows: 1st semester 700€, 2nd semester 500€, 3rd semester 400€. Registered students may attend free of charge if they meet the financial or social criteria in accordance with the provisions of article 86 of Law 4957/2022 and of the Ministry of Justice No. 108990/Z1/8-9-2022 (B’ 4899/2022).
Conducting courses. Courses are taught face-to-face and with modern distance learning. Modern distance education corresponds to up to seventy-five percent (75%) of the credit hours, follows the method of modern distance education and is supported by the special platform of modern distance education available at the PADA (Ms Teams) which ensures an appropriate educational environment, security and privacy for both teachers and students.
Candidates. Graduates or graduates of Computer Science and Computer Science Departments of Universities and Technical Universities, as well as graduates or graduates of other related Departments of technological and positive direction of Technical Universities and Universities of the domestic territory or similar recognized institutions of foreign countries are admitted to the MSc.
Candidates must certify at least a good knowledge of English.
The maximum number of students admitted to the MSc is set at forty (40) per year. The maximum number of students accepted as supernumerary scholarship holders and members of the categories of VEP, HPE and RTD.
Selection process. The selection of postgraduate students is made by a Committee established by the Assembly of the Department and confirmed by the Assembly. The selection is made taking into account the following criteria: the general degree of the degree , the grades in the undergraduate courses relevant to the courses of the MSc and the thesis, the candidate’s research activity and professional experience, if any, and the personal interview. Candidates will be informed of the date of the interview after the deadline for applications. The interview may be conducted by videoconference.
